Fictitious UPI reporting about the plight of Hungarian gypsies

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Today, the UPI news agency released an outrageous lie about the treatment of gypsies in Hungary. The writer of the article pointed out some recent incidents in the gypsy community (arson, killings and so on) and without providing evidence tacitly implicated Hungarians in the crimes, even though clues point to somewhere else.

Those who are familiar with the current Hungarian cultural and intellectual milieu, might have noticed that the style of the article, its subtle suggestions and and its neo-liberal tone is very similar to the editorials that regularly published in the Népszabadság, the Népszava and related publications.

It might be that the author of the article is Hungarian; someone from those liberal circles that job is to misrepresent the facts about the current Hungarian situation for the benefit of those who are robbing and looting the country under the guise of globalism. The other purpose might be to divert public attention from the dire economic situation to a pseudo-problem.
