New Cairo Dock [VIDEO]

Thursday, April 30, 2009

If you happen to be a Linux user, you must see the newest release of the Cairo Dock. For those not familiar with the concept, dock is a 3 dimentional, animated launcher bar, usually, at the bottom of the monitor screen (but you can place it wherever you want). From this bar you can launch all kinds of applications without going to the application menu list. This is a faster and more convinient way of interacting with the computer. And great fun too. Macintosh was among the first desktop environments popularized the concept of the dock.

Linux users are lucky because they can choose from a great variety of docks made by programmers from all over the world. The most popular ones are AWN, Cairo and Gnome-do with the docky interface.

Anyhow, take a look at this video to see what this owesome peice of software can do.
