According to the president of the Bolivian Attorneys Association, the police didn't act according to the law when ambushed and killed Flores and his friends. Police didn't have the permission of the court to enter into the hotel rooms, and legal representatives of the court weren't present during the operation.
The president said that after the arrest, Előd Tóásó should have been allowed to talk to his family members and to the press. According to the law, an accused cannot be kept in isolation more than 24 hours, after that he should be allowed to talk to his family.
According to Edwin Rojas, police has violated the law when disregarded the legal procedures during the operation led to the killing of three persons.
The cache of weapons authorities showed to the press wasn't found in the hotel but in one of the containers of a nearby market. Also, hotel management confirmed that the accused remained in the hotel during the supposed assassination attempt on bishop Julio Terrazas.
Edwin Rojas demanded that authorities release the documents of the ballistic experts to know exactly what happened during the night when Flores and his friends were killed. He also found inappropriate the shutting down of the alarm system and the security cameras of the hotel by the police during the operation.
Today, Óscar Ortiz, the president of the Bolivian Senate said that killing of Flores and two of his friends by the security forces was an execution. He wants to take the issue in front of the Pan-American Human Right committee. The operation had one purpose to undermine the credibility of the opposition, said Ortiz.
