About 3000 people participated in the annual Trianon march organized by the HVIM; among the participants were the Hungarian Guard with 500 members. So far this was the biggest event in the ten years history of the march. The nation is awakening.
Demonstrators visited the Slovakian, Romanian and the Serbian embassies reminding them of the unresolved status of Hungarian minorities in their countries.
During the demonstration Csanád Szegedi, the newly elected member of the European Parliament representing Jobbik, said that in Brussels, Jobbik MEPs would demand autonomy for the Hungarian minorities in the neighboring countries and the elimination of the Benes decrees that imposed collective punishment on the Hungarian minorities after the second world war and were still in effect.
In his speech, László Toroczkai emphasized the importance of unity among Hungarians. He said a battle was won during the EP election but the war was still ahead of us.
The head of HVIM's Felvidék branch said that Slovakian authorities wanted to kill him but he wasn't afraid.
The march ended peacefully despite the fact that riot police have been present and monitored the event, but this time, they didn't provoke the peaceful demonstrators.
