Today, Hungarian patriotic organizations signed a cooperation agreement in Szeged. Among the participants were Jobbik, the Hungarian Guard and HVIM (Hatvannégy Vármegye Ifjúsági Mozgalom), reported MTI, the official Hungarian News Agency.
“Hungarian patriotic movements have many colors, and we should preserve this diversity, but not letting the small differences divide us”, said Gábor Vona, the president of Jobbik who was among the signatories.
The meeting has been organized by László Toroczkai the chief of HVIM; besides the above mentioned organizations, György Budaházy and the Association of Patriotic Rock Musicians (Magyar Rock Nemzeti Egylet), represented by Balázs Sziva, the lead singer of the Hungarica Rock Band were also present. This was also the first time when the Betyársereg, a self-defense group made up by martial artists, stepped into the limelight. Zsolt Trityán, the head of the movement described Betyársereg as an association of loosely organized self-defense groups following the principle of national resistance. The “Nemzeti Őrsereg” and the National Football Fans Association also took part in the meeting. Other groups too participated, but some wanted to remain anonymous.
According to Gyula Zagyva, the president of HVIM said patriotic movements have built their institutions from gound up in an extremely hostile political environment; the various groups are only seemingly divided but the differences can be overcome by proper communication.
