Police released Gábor Vona, the president of Jobbik, from the detention center, just before midnight.

Krisztina Morvai, human rights activist and member of the European Parliament and minister Lóránt Hegedűs are in the “Gyorskocsis utca” detention center to help the detainees.

After his release, Gábor Vona held a news conference in front of the detention center stating that he was not assaulted while detained.

Jobbik will organize a mass demonstration on July 11, at 5 pm., to express our opposition to police atrocities committed against the Hungarian Guard, said Vona. Jobbik will use the occasion to outline a new course of action for the Hungarian Guard.

During the past couple of weeks, it has become evident that the regime started attacking the patriotic movement, in order to destroy its vitality and completely annihilate the Guard. Up until now, the regime worked with covert means, but after the EP election the establishment started a brutal, heavy-handed offensive against the patriotic movement. The regime begun one final drive to undermine the program of Jobbik. We know their plans and we won't back down, said Vona.

According to unconfirmed reports there was one fatality in the clashes. One member of the Hungarian Guard collapsed and died as the cops dragged him out of a group of people staging a sitting protest at the Erzsébet square. His colleagues tried to resuscitate him without success.

The case cannot be confirmed yet because eyewitnesses are still in detention.

At 2.30 am., about 300 people keep vigil in front of the “Gyorskocsis utca” detention center.
