The Archbishop rejects the Advent Cross

Péter Erdő, Archbishop of Hungary, practically dissociated himself from the Advent Cross. At this time of the year, Jobbik members and sympathizers erect crosses, in all over the country to remind people of the real meaning of the season. Christmas season shouldn’t be about shopping but it is a contemplative period of the year, an expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus.

In many places priests also participated in the cross erection ceremonies, but according to the Archbishop, they did that without the knowledge of the church. The church didn’t approve these kind of activities said the Archbishop.
