HUNGARY'S LASZLO CSEH SWIMS TO WINNING THE GOLD MEDAL IN THE MEN'S 200M INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY FINAL AT THE EUROPEAN SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN BUDAPEST

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Hungary's Laszlo Cseh had the crowd on their feet, edging out Austria's Markus Rogan to claim gold in a championship record 1.57.73.

"It was such a hard race but I'm so happy and the home crowd really made the difference in the end," said Cseh, now a three-time European champion.

"I know it was a championship record but the time is not so good and I know that I can faster."

Laszlo Cseh (HUN), gold, 1:57.73 minutes: ’This was not my best performance, but it was enough to win. I knew that I had to turn in front of Rogan at the 150m mark... The last lap was very hot.’
