The “Sapientia Erdélyi Magyar Tudományegyetem” opened its doors ten years ago by the financial support of the Hungarian government. Today, the University has 800 students starting their first year in Csíkszereda, Kolozsvár and Marosvásárhely locations.

“We have a University. This is the meaning of the history of the past ten years in one sentence,” said László Dávid, the president of the University. “Now young people have the possibility to pursue their post-secondary education in Hungarian without leaving their birthplace,” continued the President.

István Jakab, member of parliament said the goal of the Hungarian government is to established a unified all Hungarian education system incorporating the educational institutions in the neighboring countries. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to have a close cooperation between Hungarians in both sides of the border. The Hungarian government is determined to provide all necessary means to help the education of Hungarian youth across the border.

This year the Corvinus and the Sapientia Universities launch a joint Master program in Csíkszereda.
