The second and the third place also went to Hungarian competitors, they are Kassai's students.

The European Open Championship of Horseback Archery tournament was held August 29 through September 2, 2012 in Verőce, Hungary. Ten nations participated in the prestigious event that won by Lajos Kassai with 367.43 points.

The second and third place also went to Kassai's two students, Márton Szmrecsányi (282.20 points) and István Vermes (259.54 points) respectively.

The European Open Championship of Horseback Archery tournament was founded by enthusiasts of the sport conceiving it as an international meeting place that links horse riding practitioners around the world.



The tournament brings together the cultural and competitive spirit of various nations dedicated to the practice of horseback archery. Competitors from different cultural backgrounds - Mongolian, Turkish, Iranian, German, Polish, Japanese, Korean, Hungarian, Swedish, and so on – members of more than twenty countries – get together to compete and execute a series of “spiritual shots” while riding on a galloping horse. Every competitor brings the historical heritage of his birthplace and shows his style and his traditional costumes. There are no boundaries, there are no differences, there are no limits and no politics - only the passion for the sport that connects the competitors.
