The Erdély chapter of the Sixty-four County Youth Movement (HVIM) and the Mişcarea Naţional Democrata (MND) youth group of Moldova agreed to closely cooperate and mutually assist each other to achieve the goals they have set for themselves reporting HVIM news service.

Leaders of HVIM Erdély chapter visited the Republic of Moldova at the invitation of MND and met the senior leaders of the Moldovan youth group. The leaders of the two groups exchanged views on possible cooperation between the two organizations including supporting each others to achieve their objectives.

The HVIM delegation got acquainted with Moldovan culture and tradition and members of the delegation praised Moldova's exemplary minority policy – the Republic of Moldova grants full blown autonomy to the country's one hundred thousand Gagauz minority.

MND Chairman Viorel Furtuna said “I don't understand why Romania doesn't grant autonomy to indigenous Székely-Hungarians in Romania as every minority has the right to self-determination”. At the same time, the leader of the Moldovan youth group condemned Romanian efforts aiming to annex the Republic of Moldova, which would mean certain loss of Moldovan tradition and culture that go back several hundred years.

The HVIM delegation invited representatives of the Moldovan youth group to the March Székely autonomy rally that will be held in Marosvásárhely. They agreed that on the same day, MND activists will stage a sympathy demonstration in front of the Romanian embassy. The two groups stressed that Romania is a repressive country that is not willing to face the facts.
