Three athletes represent Hungary at the WTF World Taekwondo Championships in Mexico

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Edina Kotsis, Ivett Gonda, and Balázs Tóth represent Hungary at WTF World Taekwondo Championships will be held on July 15 – 21, 2013 in Mexico.

This tournament won't be easy on the athletes for several reasons said Miklós Patakfalvy the chairman of the Hungarian Teakwondo Federation at a press conference. First, because the tournament will be held in Puebla, which is 2200 meters above sea level.

Second, because the Hungarian Teakwondo Federation has a very tight budget. Athletes have to contribute to their own traveling and training camp expenses in Mexico; even with such cutbacks, the tournament will consumes over half of the annual budget of the Hungarian Teakwondo Federation.

(Notes: Shame on the Secretary of State Responsible for Sports István Simicskó, who himself has a background in martial arts for not providing adequate funding for an Olympic sport with such a bright future.)

Despite these unfortunate facts, all three athletes have a chance to score points and even win medal said Patakfalvy at the press conference.

The government is wasting billions on gypsy integration and pump millions into corrupt gypsy community leaders, yet it can't find the money to pay the traveling expenses of athletes who win glory for their country. That's disgusting.
