Turkish university students in Hungary staged a sympathy demonstration in Szeged

Monday, June 3, 2013

Turkish university students in Hungary staged a protest to show sympathy for protesters demonstrating across Turkey against PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan's autocratic rule.

The demonstration started in Istanbul's Taksim Square; protesters gathered to protect hundred years old trees from being cut down by authorities to make room for a new shopping mall. The demonstration later erupted into a nationwide protest demanding the resignation of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Hungarian students also joined the protest; several students expressed their hopes that the problems in Turkey will be settled peacefully; but they were very critical of police handling the situation.
