Wednesday, July 10, 2013

An agreement was signed Tuesday in the parliament building among the heads of 16 priority sport federations and PM Viktor Orbán; the agreement guarantees that no successful Hungarian athlete or coach have to go abroad because of financial reasons.

The prime minister emphasized that coaches that raise athletes and produce outstanding result at world tournaments receive substantial salary increases. Individuals that make major contribution to the country's culture, science and sports should be able to make a good living said PM Orbán.

Even during the European financial crisis, the government is able to set aside enough resources to support junior athletes because the future of our country lies in the children. The prime minister drew attention to the Government's program that introduced daily physical education in primary schools. He noted that in the 2012/2013 school year, 314 thousand children took part in daily physical education.

Athletes in 16 sports won 96.4 percent of the Olympic gold medals said the prime minister; therefore, in the period of 2014 to 2020 sixteen sport federations receive a total of HUF 135 billion; these are: table tennis, athletics, wrestling, rowing, Judo, canoeing, biking, skating, boxing, pentathlon, a volleyball, sport shooting, tennis, gymnastics, water sports and fencing.
