Szabina Gercsák (second from the left) showing her gold medal

This summer was spectacular for Hungarian athletes and it is not over yet. I just mention here swimmer Katinka Hosszú who smashed so many world records in Barcelona and at the World Cup that hard follow the results.

And now, here comes one of the rising stars of Hungarian judo sport 16-year old Szabina Gercsák.

The most highly acclaimed Hungarian athlete lived up to expectations in Miami; she showed dazzling performances throughout the World Championship winning gold medal in the 63 kg category.

The athlete of Hell-Miskolc JC won five matches, four of them with ippon.

This was a memorable year for Szabina Gercsák. The 16-year-old athlete won the Junior European Championships and the World Championships; at the European Youth Olympic Festival she won silver medal, and at the age of 16 she participated in the senior European Championships in Budapest as well, where as the youngest member of the tournament she finished seventh in her category. And it is not over yet: she is planning to take part this year's Junior European Championship and World Championship as well.
