"Our government implicitly valid slogan is Soli Deo gloria (Glory to God alone); this is a nation building government, and this commitment includes the construction of churches" said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in a brief interview with the latest edition of the Reformed Journal (Reformátusok Lapja).
When the day of reckoning comes I hope we are not going to be ashamed of what we have done said the prime minister. He was asked these questions during the inauguration ceremony of the new "Svábhegy" Reformed Church on October 5.
The Prime Minister's Press Secretary Bertalan Havasi told MTI that the prime minister was a member of the “Svábhegy” congregation and he attended the inauguration ceremony as a private citizen with his wife Anikó Lévai.
The first Holy Communion was held at “Svábhegy” congregation in 1888, but the church has been built only now, 125 years later. In the interview the prime minister said in his opinion the church had to be built much earlier. He felt "deeply motivated" on behalf of the government to find the money still needed to finish the construction of the church.
