The Hungarian government is considering the opening of a visa center in Moscow, which can take place as early as 2014; currently, the Hungarian consulate can hardly cope with the visa applications coming from Russian citizens wanting to travel to Hungary.

Senior consul András Jakab noted that the volume of visa applications exceeds the capacity of the consulate.

According to the travel agencies, currently, there are about 3 thousand Russian visa applications are waiting to be processed at the Hungarian consulate. This surge is explained by experts with the fact that the Russians have become increasingly interested in the recreational opportunities Hungary can offer.

The first half of this year, nearly 20 thousand Russian tourists visited Hungary, which is 20% more than last year.
