Picture of the day: Young Hungarian couple wearing folk-costume at the first part of the twentieth century

Ethnographer István Györffy began doing fieldwork at the Black Körös valley southeast of Nagyvárad, now belongs to Romania, among Hungarian communities in 1911. This photo that shows a young couple wearing folk costume is part of a series of photographs made by Györffy before the first world war devastated the country. István Györffy's photos are on display in the “Néprajzi Múzeum” until March 16, 2014.
