Scouts help promoting Hungary's true history

Friday, November 22, 2013

Sixteen adult scouts of Cleveland packaged more than five thousand books dealing with Hungary and Hungarian history in a total of ten hours and mailed them to American libraries reported the Hungarian Scout Association foreign press office.

Szabolcs Magyaródy the leader of the Hunyadi Mátyás adult scout troop based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada by working together with the Hunyadi Old Scout Community have been organizing and delivering books to different North-American libraries for several years to improve Hungary's reputation in the world and help the work of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry and the various Hungarian lobby groups of North America.

The scouts focus their activities on selecting, translating, printing, purchasing and finally distributing English-language books dealing with Hungarian historical themes. By the end of 2012, more than 110,000 volumes of books and CD were donated mostly to American university, state, media and research institutes libraries, as well as historians and diplomatic missions.

In 2013, as part of a new action plan 12,430 books and CDs shipped to Cleveland in the Gráber family's Ultrasteel plant where they were packaged and mailed under the guidance of Mihály Horváth.

The 16 adult scouts - most of them over fifty - performed a great service to our nation. The costs of the operation have been financed by donations from the U.S., European and Canadian supporters of the initiative.
