World Jewish Congress: “Jobbik showed its true colors”

Monday, November 4, 2013

As expected, Jewish organizations launched a concerted attack on Jobbik over the erection of Admiral Miklós Horthy's statue at the entrance of “Hazatérés Temploma” in downtown Budapest during the weekend accusing the party with antisemitism.

World Jewish Congress disseminated false information about the event by alluding that the erection of the statue was a Jobbik organized event; but the truth is that Jobbik was just one of the invited guests attended the unveiling ceremony. The idea to erect a Horthy bust at the entrance of the church came from Reformed Church Pastor Lóránt Hegedűs. With the erection of the statue Pastor Lóránt Hegedűs wanted to commemorate to the 75th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the church.

The Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary also issued a statement by expressing shock over the event.

Reformed Church Bishop István Szabó, a man without backbone, has condemned the erection of the statue by saying that the incident undermines church's reputation and he personally considers the event an organized political provocation.

The today's attacks on Jobbik can be seen as signs of the impending anti-Hunarian smear-campaign in the globalist media.

In the meantime, the Hungarian Reformed Church started disciplinary proceedings against Pastor Lóránt Hegedűs.

Pastor Lóránt Hegedűs also issued a statement by saying that he files criminal complaint against politicians and agent provocateurs that yesterday and today slandered the dignity of the event and against those that threatened churchgoers and disrupted yesterday's worship. In addition, he files a criminal complaint against Socialist MP Pál Steiner and Fidesz MP Bence Rétvári for libel and defamation.
