Winter Solstice celebration in Holló Valley

Monday, December 23, 2013

The Hungarian Turan Association held its annual Winter Solstice celebration on December 21, 2013, in Holló Valley near Budakalász. According to organizers, this year's event has been attended by one of the larges crowds in recent years. "The Creator was kind to us, the weather was ideal, it was a beautiful sunny day so the falcon flight ceremony took place in bright sunshine."

Those attended the event stayed up all night to stare into the rising sun; they participated in shooting flaming arrows, traditional drumming and singing beside the bonfire; shaman rituals were also part of the celebration.
