The Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visits Berlin on May 8 at the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the unfolding Ukrainian crisis. The Hungarian prime minister last met Merkel in Brussels at the end of March.

According to diplomatic sources, the main topic on the agenda will be the escalating Ukrainian crisis and the EU's response to the deteriorating relations between Russia and Ukraine.

Neither the German nor the Hungarian governments want to see serious economic sanctions introduced against Russia. According to German sources, EU sanctions against Russia would negatively affect the German economy, which would cost 300 thousand direct jobs in Germany.
