Hungarians remembered the Trianon dictate in London

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

Organized by "Magyar Magvető", Hungarians in London remembered the Trianon dictate on June 8, at 11 am at Downing Street in front of the British prime minister's office.

Speakers included the President of "Magyar Magvető" Tamás Fehér, spokesman of HVIM Erdély wing Bálint Tóth as well as Szilvia Beszterczei who talked to local residents in English drawing attention to the injustice of the Trianon dictate.

In the name of Polish organization Patria Fidelis Kay Łańcucki highlighted the fact that those who don't know Hungarian history can not imagine what it feels like being divided.

To raise the quality of the event, Erdély-born actress Imola Gáspár recited poems by Albert Wass and Gyula Juhász.

The event ended with the singing of the Székely national anthem.

... On June 4, 1920, Edvard Beneš and Štefan Osuský signed the Treaty of Trianon with Hungary. The signing represented not only a final recognition of Czechoslovakia and its borders but also the admission of the new state among other European states and acknowledgment of the Czechs and Slovaks as equal members of the European community.
... Osuský died in Herndon, Virginia, on September 1973, at the age of 84; he was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Washington D.C. The epitaph on his grave reads:
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither.
We will never forget Wahington and Paris assistance!!!!!
