Police ban family event to promote traditional lifestyle during Budapest gay parade

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Budapest police chief rejected an application by family groups wanting to promote traditional lifestyle during the upcoming gay procession in Budapest.

We are immensely disappointed by the decision especially in the light of current demographic data showing declining birth rate; events like ours should be supported rather than banned says the statement issued by organizers.

Our goal is to promote traditional family values drawing particular attention to the fact that family is the core unit of society based on the union of man and woman; we also want to promote strategies taken against deviant behavior posing significant danger to the development of children.

We launch an appeal against the verdict and in case of favorable decision we are going to held the event as originally planned in full compliance with the law write organizers of the event.

The Capital City Administrative Court changed the earlier decision of the Budapest police chief allowing "In the Name of the Family" group to hold the event as originally planned. The counter event will be held between 2:45 pm and 4:00 pm at Kossuth Square and the Alkotmány street corner.

The purpose of the event is to promote public morals, traditional family, the protection of children's rights against efforts counter to traditional family values says the statement issued by the organization.
