The first Székely sealing postage stamp has been introduced to the public

Friday, July 18, 2014

The Székelyudvarhely Foundation sponsored sealing postage stamp depicting Virgin Mary of Csíksomlyó and the Székely coat of arms has been designed by graphic artist Barnabás Baticz.

The stamp incorporates the name of Székely Land written by Latin and Rovas characters. The stamp is a unique philatelic value especially for collectors. The 25-piece stamp set available with a five thousand numbered commemorative sheet for customers and collectors worldwide.

According to the publisher, the release of the stamp carries a symbolic message; it pays tribute to the autonomy struggle of Székely Hungarians. "We say to the world that Székely Hungarians have been living in the Carpathian Basin for more than a thousand years, which fact entitles them to live in an autonomous region like the people of South Tyrol, Catalonia, and Aland-Islands".

The stamps of the world carry important messages that publishers deem necessary to tell to each other and to the world. The first Székely stamp has been published to tell to the world about the Székely struggle for self-determination.

I couldn't find any info on the sale of the stamp. If I hear anything about it I'll definitely post it here. It might even be that the stamp is not yet released to the public.
