Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Donetsk Oleksandr Zaharchenko announced that Strelkov will continue serving in the government but perform other important duties, however, he did not provide specific information of his future duties.
Strelkov is the third cabinet minister to resign in a week. A week ago, Russian citizen Alexander Borodaj, the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Donetsk submitted his resignation and on Thursday Valery Bolotov, the leader of the breakaway republic of Luhansk announced his resignation.
According to unconfirmed reports, Igor Strelkov was seriously wounded in military operations in the Donetsk region, which might be behind his resignation.
