Protesters carried posters in Hungarian and English and waved Székely and Scottish flags. Police kept a close eye on the protesters and disbanded the gatherings after the quarter of an hour.
"We want to call the attention of Europe to the Scottish and the Székely peoples' struggle for independence and autonomy. “The peaceful separation of Scotland from the UK may set a precedent" said László Tiboldi the head of EMNT Csíkszék wing to Székelyhon news portal.
President of EMNT Maros county wing Gábor Czech remarked to MTI that Scotland wants independence while Székelyland wants autonomy, yet the referendum in Scotland could be a call for Europe for the peaceful settlement of autonomy demands across the continent.
At least, the same number of police officers kept watching over protesters at the Marosvásárhely flashmob as the number of people took part in the protest. Officers checked the identity cards of those attended the rally threatening them with fines. The same kind of police harassment have been reported from the other cities across Erdély including Gyergyószentmiklós.
Krisztina Sándor, the Executive Chairman of EMNT said to MTI all peaceful movements in Europe aiming for self-determination help Székelyland's struggle for autonomy. If Scotland manages to obtain independence that gives an impetus to Székely autonomy demands as well.
