Judoka Hedvig Karakas continues her winning spree at Grand Prix tournament in Astana

The 24-year-old Karakas started from the 15th place of world ranking in Astana. She won gold medal by defeating a Kazakh, Israeli and a Serbian competitor winning the gold medal in her weight category.

The two-time European and World Champion bronze medalist won the Sofia World Cup earlier this year; she won bronze medals at Samsunn, Havana, and Budapest Grand Prix. In Ulaanbaatar she finished in fifth place, followed by the Zagreb GP where she won silver medal.

In the final Karakas met Sabrina Filzmoser of Austria who is sixth in world ranking. The Hungarian judoka competed against Filzmoser three times before losing twice and winning once - the last time at Samsunn GP. And again in Astana where she defeated Filzmoser by waza-ari.

Hedvig Karakas received 300 points for the win although, she have had a Rio quota already; with this win she just confirmed her qualification for the Rio games.
