Sándor Nemes beautiful wood carvings are not only documentations of the arts and culture of the steppe peoples but the patterns and the symbols incorporated in the artworks still offer a dynamic and festive representation of ancient Hungarian culture. The pictorial elements the artist uses in his works are not only ancient motifs or abstract patterns, but they are also pictographs, visual signs that still can be read today.
The Hungarian-Turan Foundation Board of Trustees founded the "Turan Award" this year to recognize those individuals who made major contribution to the preservation of the Hungarian and Turanian peoples' tradition and culture.
The award itself made of copper incorporating the official logo of the Hungarian Turan Foundation, its name inscribed in both Latin and Rovas characters as well as the name of the recipient of the award.
