Jobbik MP Márton Gyöngyösi: Jobbik respects Donetsk and Luhansk general election results

Monday, November 3, 2014

Although the circumstances of the vote weren't ideal due to the half-year-long armed conflict between rebel forces and the Ukrainian army Jobbik respects Donetsk and Luhansk general election results despite the fact that Kiev doesn't recognize it said Jobbik parliamentary group deputy Márton Gyöngyösi who took part in the election process as an observer.

Gyöngyösi remarked that Kiev violating the principles of democracy by waging a war on its own people. Jobbik therefore, justified to acknowledge the demand of the Russian minority to chose its own representatives in the Eastern regions of the country.

The Jobbik MP said he visited Donetsk at the invitation of the President of the Electoral Commission of the region. "Most of western and Hungarian corporate media reports simply reciting the Kiev government's propaganda messages" but they keep quiet of the humanitarian disaster unfolding in the region; hundreds of thousands of people fled their homes and as a result, elections had to be held in Russian refugee camps as well.

The fundamental democratic principles that allow people to take their destiny in their own hands and decide on their future prevailed in Donetsk and Luhansk. The elections have been transparent and reflected the will of the people said Gyöngyösi.

The Jobbik politician is not bothered by the Kiev government's decision to declare him persona non grata for participating in the Donetsk general elections as an observer as he has no intention to visit Ukraine anytime soon.
