Monument commemorating to the victims of Stalinism has been inaugurated in Szerencs

Monument commemorating to the hundreds of thousands of innocent victims deported to the Soviet Union after world war two has been inaugurated in Szerencs, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county on Tuesday.

Speakers of the memorial service stressed that those survived the horrors of the forced labor camps came home sick and were stigmatized during their whole lives; they couldn't hold proper jobs and speak of their experiences. In addition to the sufferings they endured, the communists wanted to erase their victim's memories as well.

To heal the wounds and pay tribute to the hundreds of thousands of innocent victims suffered indescribable horrors in Soviet labor camps the government dedicated 2015 to the memory of political prisoners deported to the Soviet Union.

The National Assembly declared November 25 as the day of political prisoners deported to Soviet forced labor camps after world war two.
