Ljagin announced that following the November 2nd general elections in Donetsk a legitimate public authority has been created. Voters yesterday authorized the directly and democratically elected representatives of the region to implement the decision of a former referendum - held about the region's separation from Ukraine - and lay down the foundation of an independent state said Roman Ljagin.
"Therefore, we can say that Donbass is no longer part of Ukraine, whether you like it or not” added Ljagin while holding stamped documents testifying the decision of the newly elected public authority.
Incumbent PM Aleksandr Zakharchenko has won in Sunday’s elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in eastern Ukraine, taking some 75 percent of the votes. In Lugansk, 63 percent have voted for the current leader Igor Plotnitsky.
