Kiev is planning to complete the "Wall" projects along the entire Ukrainian - Russian border in four years said Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk on Tuesday.

The European Union is already supplying Ukraine with means needed to strengthen Ukrainian – Russian border security said the prime minister; however, he didn't give further details of the nature of the support.

Based on press reports, the implementation of the “ Wall” project will cost about 8 billion hrivnya. The government has already allocated 235 million hryvnia for it in the fall.

Jacenyuk announced in early September that Ukraine starts building a wall along the entire Ukraine - Russian border. The work has already been started at north-east of Kiev by digging ditches.

The idea of building a fence on the border is said to come from Oligarch Ihor Kolomojskij the governor of Dnipropetrovsk. Based on technical data, the 1920 kilometer-long Ukrainian - Russian border will be equipped with a special metal wire fence, which allegedly can prevent armored vehicles from entering the country.

The fortification will include a trench, a fence with high voltage power line on the top and anti-personnel mines, which will be installed at the area between the ditch and the fence.

According to government plans, some parts of the border fortification will include more than two meters deep and four meters wide ditch filled with water and fitted with various sensors and other devices.

The wall will be realized in two phases: the work starts on that sections of the Ukrainian - Russian border, which is still under the control of the Ukrainian armed forces; as soon as Kiev regains control over the region of Donetsk and Luhansk work will continue that section of the border as well.
