Severe ice storm hits the country

A thick layer of ice covers most of the country. The ice storm has created much havoc all over the country causing power outages in several cities and towns around the country.

The hardest hit region is the north-east counties where several towns are blocked by the freezing rain, which continues to turn roads and sidewalks into skating rinks cutting power to hundreds of thousands of residents.

Hydro worker working twenty-four hours a day to restore power to the cut off towns but according to officials, it may take months to restore power fully in every municipalities as tick ice blankets roads and trees, sending broken branches into power lines.

Currently, thirty-one punicipalities and 12,900 consumers have no power due to the extreme weather situation announced the the National Disaster Management Directorate.
