The Chinese IT company initially hires 180 highly skilled software developers and engineers to support the company's growing presence in Europe. AsiaInfo Törökbálint center can support up to eight European telecommunication projects until 2016.
National Development Minister Miklós Seszták said at the official opening ceremony of the center that it was fundamental for Hungary to ensure its competitiveness and steady development of its IT industry. The government intends to give new impetus to the IT sector by launching the National Information and Communication Strategy adopted at the end of last year.
According to the minister, currently, the IT sector contributes 12 percent of the Hungarian gross domestic product and HUF 270 billion to the budget.
The fact that the Chinese software company opened its European support center in Hungary indicates two parallel trends: First, it shows that foreign IT companies feel that their presence in Hungary provide ideal opportunity for achieving their business goals, and it shows that Hungarian software developers are in high demand said the minister.
More than half of AsiaInfo staff will be recruited from Hungarian universities said the director of the company stressing that AsiaInfo employing more than 11 thousand employees worldwide.
