The piano has taken seven years to complete. The original idea of the piano developed gradually from conversations between Gergely Bogányi and his friends.
The construction of the piano has been financed by the artist himself for more than seven years. In 2012 a startup company was formed, which attracted external capital for the project. The initiative has been supported by the EU with HUF 126 million, the National Bank of Hungary with HUF 76 million, “Szerencsejáték Zrt.” and the department of human resources with HUF 100 million.
Pianist Bogányi in a brief presentation remarked that the design team sought to reach a powerful but clean sound that in contrast to old pianos resists wear. We strove to bring these elements together in the new model. Bogányi revealed that besides the prototype two copies of the piano have already been made.
The piano debuted at the Academy of Music on Wednesday night on the eve of the Day of Hungarian Culture as part of a private gala.
