Hungary can resume pork exports to Russia shortly

Friday, January 23, 2015

Moscow lifts export ban on pork products from six countries, including Hungary. Next week Russian inspectors may already arrive to Hungarian factories to check whether they meet the highest standards of Russian veterinary regulations.

In the first round France, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands will be excluded from the export ban. Russia introduced counter-measures on August 7 against EU countries in response to the EU boycott of Russia due to Russia's alleged involvement in the Ukrainian crisis, when it is known that the upheaval in Ukraine has been triggered by a western sponsored coup d'etat.

While the EU countries suffering tremendous losses - EU ember states' exports to Russia fell by 7.3 percent in January-November last year - trade between Russia and the United States grew by 7.5 percent during this period.
