Lavrov: Western countries have to bear the consequences of their own decisions

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Russia will definitely recover from the crisis caused by western imposed sanctions, although obviously the Russian economy is hurting. It is likely that Russia will come out of the crisis stronger said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after meeting with Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevic.

No side deals are considered with any EU countries, as these sanctions are completely counterproductive and illegitimate in nature - added the Russian foreign minister, indicating that some business and political leaders of several EU countries try to lobby the Russian government to make specific deals with them and provide opportunities for their companies to return to the Russian market.

Our European colleagues, who now feel the consequences of their own decisions have to draw their own conclusions; that's not our problem and concern said Lavrov.

Last year, Russia harvested record crop and Russian customers don't feel they lack any western food products. Russia managed to substitute even some of the more exotic western products from its own resources, including oysters, which are now produced by Black Sea oyster farmers.
