Russian President Vladimir Putin pays working visit to Hungary on February 17 announced Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Wednesday.
The foreign minister said the topics of discussion would include bilateral political and economic relations, energy security issues and the Ukrainian armed conflict. Hungary supports the initiative to bring an end to the Ukrainian armed conflict through negotiations, on the basis of the Minsk agreement - Hungary's interest lies in a strong and stable Ukraine the minister added.
The EU sanctions against Russia will be also on the agenda; these measures significantly set back economic and political cooperation between Russia and Hungary. Hungarian-Russian economic and trade relations and Hungarian exports to Russia fell by more than 13 percent due to sanctions.
The two leaders will discuss Hungary's energy security in the wake of the cancellation of the South Stream gas pipeline project added Szijjártó.
In early February German Chancellor Angela Merkel also pays a working visit to Budapest.
