The Hungarian government set aside more than HUF 650 million to support Transcarpathian Hungarians

More than 650 million HUF have been allocated by the government to support the Transcarpathian Hungarian community in these difficult times - said Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén responsible for national policy, at Monday's press-conference in Budapest.

The deputy prime minister said: HUF 486 million will be used to supplement the salaries of nearly two thousand teachers. In addition, the government allocated HUF 116 million to pay for four thousand preschool children's meal; the government also set aside HUF 50 million for members of the clergy that actively participating in various aid organizations assisting the Hungarian community to survive the catastrophic economic situation in Ukraine.

The President of the Hungarian Cultural Association of Transcarpathian Hungarians (KMKSZ) thanked for the government's support by saying that Transcarpathian Hungarians are in the midst of one of the most serious economic crisis in their history.
