Video showing the belly-landing of the Gripen fighter jet at Kecskemét air-base

According to Minister of Defense Csaba Hende, the damage to the aircraft is not extensive and can be repaired. The pilot said the landing has gone very well; but after a few seconds the aircraft became uncontrollable and started drifting off the runway when he decided to eject.

Apparently, the ejection seat of the aircraft didn't work properly either. According to experts, the seat suppose to disengage after ejection; but in this case this hasn't happened. The seat remained attached to the pilot adding additional weight to the parachute that as a result, hit the ground with an extra force most probably, causing spinal cord injuries to the pilot.
