Transit Zones near the Eastern and Western Railway Stations can't accommodate more migrants

Transit Zones near the Eastern and Western Railway Stations can't accommodate more illegal immigrants reported M1 TV on Friday.

The TV channel reported that migrants do not want to stay in Hungary, but want to move on to Germany.

Budapest Mayor István Tarlós also indicated that the refugee situation in the capital was out of control; he is supporting the amendment of the Criminal Code to make illegal border crossing a serious criminal offense, which can be punishable with 2-3 years imprisonment.

According to Tarlós, the capital has done everything it could to handle the situation, but it is - especially near the Eastern and Western Railway Stations - becoming unmanageable.

"People with dubious identities flooding the Transit Zones, and in the absence of legal instruments authorities can't do much to protect the interests of Hungarian citizens against people don't comply with the rules," said Tarlós.

In the meantime, the Chief Medical Officer has raised the need to limit the movement of asylum seekers up until the appropriate screening tests performed on them. There is still no risk of epidemics, but authorities must take precautionary measures said Chief Medical Officer Judit Paller to Napi Gazdaság.
