A fractured arrow seriously injured World Champion Archer József Mónus' left hand during a training session near Hajdúdorog.

“The broken arrow pierced my hand at three points, seriously injuring my index finger,” said Mónus.

Doctors told Mónus that there was a risk of inflammation if some foreign material left in the wound and it was unlikely that he could compete in the US on August 30.

Mónus is still determined to travel the US and break the 907 m barrier setting new world record in long distance shooting to commemorate the 1008th anniversary of the Pozsony battle took place in 907 near the city of Pozsony.
