After the government's national security cabinet meeting on Monday, Defence Minister Csaba Hende handed in his resignation to the prime minister reported the Government Information Centre.

At the meeting the cabinet reviewed the situation with regard to illegal immigration, and listened reports on the state of the border fence currently under construction on the Hungarian-Serbian border.

New Minister of Defense István Simicskó

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán appointed Minster Responsible for Sports István Simicskó as the new minister of defense of the country.

Apparently, PM Viktor Orbán wasn't satisfied with the slow space of work done on the border fence when he visited the region Monday evening. This is what might have triggered the resignation of Defense Minister Csaba Hende. The prime minister said the construction of the fence must be sped up.

He missed the deadline...
This is pure speculation, but I would not be too surprised, that the deadline was missed b/c of negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers for kickbacks, and the clock kept on ticking...
