The closure of the Hungarian-Croatian border on Friday practically halted the influx of migrants into Hungary - FM Péter Szijjártó

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó thanked the foreign ministers of the Visegrad countries for their cooperation of helping to protect the Hungarian and Schengen borders. This cooperation has proven brilliantly that by joining forces it is possible to protect the EU's external borders said Szijjártó.

The Hungarian foreign ministry announced on Sunday that Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó talked to the Czech, Slovakian, Polish and Austrian foreign ministers as well as the Bavarian international relations and European affairs minister over the phone informing them of the result of the closure of the Hungarian – Croatian border.

Szijjártó told his colleagues that since the closure of the border on Friday the flow of illegal immigrants into Hungary has practically stopped.

"Hungary by closely cooperating with the V4 countries successfully defended Europe's external borders, and common European values. ​​We have demonstrated to everyone that the Eu's external border in Greece can be protected too," conclude the communique issued by the Hungarian foreign ministry.
