The primary purpose of the deployment of armed police and troops in public areas is to reassure the public stressed the Prime Minister's Chief Adviser on Homeland Security György Bakondi on M1 TV channel Tuesday night.
The senior adviser recalled that after last Friday's bombings in Paris, like in many other countries Hungarian security measures were also stepped up.
As a result, the government reinforced police and military presence in public areas including airports, railway stations, bus stations, and busy intersections to reassure the public.
Information exchange among European intelligence agencies has broadened since the Paris terror attack said the chief adviser.
Bakondi said Hungarian intelligence agencies had received a number of requests about "Syrian assets" passed through Hungary in the past couple of months. These requests will be answered promptly said the homeland security adviser, recalling that earlier, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán indicated that Hungary fully supports the efforts of French authorities to uncover all circumstances led to the Paris terror attack.
