The European Commission is preparing a plan to deploy direct flights to ship hundreds of thousands of refugees from Turkey to Europe suggested EU officials on Tuesday, after an agreement was reached with Ankara at the weekend summit; the plan aims to shut down the chaotic influx of migrants into Europe.
The European Commission will submit the proposal for discussion to leaders of the European Union at the next submit scheduled for December 17 to 18.
In addition to Turkey, EU officials also plan to relocate migrants from Lebanon and Jordan.
At the Turkish-EU summit in Brussels on Sunday eight countries welcomed the refugee relocation plan. The most dedicated supporter of the program is Germany, but the Benelux countries, Austria, Sweden, Finland and Greece are also actively supporting the program; France may also join the club.
