The German government expecting close to 4 million migrants until the end of the decade

According to a recent forecast, the German government expecting more than 3.6 million asylum seekers to arrive in the country by the end of the decade - wrote German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung on Thursday.

The forecast has been compiled by the federal ministry of economic affairs "on purely technical basis", but in collaboration with other ministries.

Last year alone, 1.1 million immigrants arrived in Germany. The government expects an average of half a million refugees to arrive into the country annually.

The German government, however, made clear that it did not want to give a precise forecast of the expected number of immigrants because there was no way to accurately estimate the number of newcomers into the country until the end of the decade.
