It is important that ethnic Hungarians in Erdély emerge as winners from this year's Romanian elections and have parliamentary representation said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Kelemen Hunor in a joint statement after their Monday's meeting in parliament.

The head of the Prime Minister's press office Bertalan Havasi told MTI that Hunor Kelemen informed the prime minister of the draft of the priority development program that can serve ethnic Hungarians' identity preservation and cultural development in the coming years.

Viktor Orbán pledged support for the program, which ranges from the construction of living spaces for ethnic Hungarian college students in the diaspora and the creation of community spaces in Temesvár; the program also foresees the completion of a dormitory for students in Szamosújvár Mezőség region, the creation of Székelyföld Hockey Academy and the expansion of Erdély Center for the Arts in Sepsiszentgyörgy.
