Friday, October 14, 2016

Good Friday will be public holiday announced Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at Hungary Reformed Churches Synod Commemorative Meeting on Friday in Budapest.

In his opening speech at the memorial event held at the 60th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution, the prime minister emphasized that the memorial year of Reformation was a suitable moment to take this step and make Good Friday a public holiday.

The prime minister stressed that the cold reality of dictatorship destroys human dignity followed by spiritual emptiness, and decreased vitality.

"The heroes of the 1956 revolution were victorious because they have done something, even if secretly, what we can be proud of," (...) the prime minister added.

As a legacy, they didn’t leave forty years of oppressive darkness of the dictatorship to their children, but courage to resist, fearlessness, and heroism.
